Catching Chrome Angling Services (CCAS) originated back to 1995 upon which time I started my guiding career while attending Penn State University. Since then much has changed including marriage and  the addition of two little chromers, my pride and joy, Colbert and Dillon. While life may have changes, one thing has remained constant and that is my passion for flyfishing.

My passion for flyfishing has taken me all over the United States from tailwaters of Montana to the 65 miles off the coast of North Carolina to fish Pelagics in the Gulf Stream. Along the way I have developed a vast array of skills to catch warriest of trout in Spring Creeks, Hard fighting winter Steelhead and bucket mouthed sized Stripers.

This site highlights the services, locations we guide and people we have met along the way. As a side note I would like to thank the following special people who have given me the gift of fishing: First my Father, who always made time to take me fishing, my Mom for putting up with us, my twin brother Mike, and My wife Michele who over the past 10 years has stood by myside and never stopped me from wetting a line.

Pete and I have been fly-fishing’s “A-team” for the past 10 years. While some may not appreciate it, my real niche is nymphing and streamer fishing for big trout.  Most years you will find me spending much of my free time guiding and fishing the waters of the northeastern and western USA.

In addition to fly-fishing, I was born and raised with a deep western PA hunting heritage.

From elk in the western US to my real love – archery whitetail hunting I’ve done it and now offer, through CCAS, a whitetail and turkey hunting guide and consultation service that is sure to make memories.

Ultimately, like Pete, I am a full-time husband and father!  My wife, Magen has been by my side since 1994 as I’ve chased my dreams across the country.  Now that my son Carter seems to be getting bigger by the day it is just a matter of time before he is rowing dad down a trout-rich tailwater…J

West Branch of the Delaware River - May 5th and 6th

CCAS guides Pete and TB decided to take a quick ride up to the WB due to quick ran showers increased the flows to ideal streamer type conditions. CCAS arrived to find the WB prime, cloudy and around 1200 cfs, couple that with overcast skies and no other boats in sight produced banner results. It was the first trip for the new Clack on the WB and it couldn't have worked out better. Tom and I banged some nice browns right out of the box on size 2 streamers. As early evening came, we found a nice pod of rising fish despite the cloudy water. We caught a nice selection of browns on Hendrickson comparduns, rusty spinners and even a CDC caddis. When night fell we went back to tossing large black diver patterns to look for the one! We lost 4 fish over the last hour but overall the 8 hours on the water was great. The next day we hit the water bright and early and floated from Barking Dog all the way to Buckingham! It was nice just to be out on the water. Streamer Fishing was great early, however later in the day on the mainstem, dries were pretty much non-existent. Here are some nice pictures from our journey. We shot some nice video that will be posted shortly.

Bighorn River - Summer 2012 - Still Prime Dates Available

If you are interested in fishing the Bighorn, and have a limited budget, let CCAS plan your trip for you. We can offer some great rates through the Bighorn Angler. They offer full service guide trips or what we really like the unguided drift boat packages. These packages include driftboat rental, shuttle, lodging and food. There is a variety of lodging options, but if you just need a clean room and shower, the fishermans quarters or lodge rooms are perfect.  Packages generally range from 2 days to 7 days.  We generally have found we can do a typical unguided 5 night 4 day package including all food and airfare for around $1000! This is based on double occupancy. CCAS will provide all the info for your party including river maps, fly patterns etc. Fishing Montana could not be easier!
